Maximise your Potential at
Consensus

At Consensus, we are committed to creating a workplace where everyone, regardless of who they are or the job they do, has the opportunity to shine and to be a part of shaping their future, and that of Consensus.

Here, leadership is about supporting our support workers – not the other way around. We believe the people working directly with those we support should have the most influence and the biggest say, as they are the true drivers of positive outcomes.

If you’re looking for a role where your voice is heard and your growth is supported, here’s why Consensus could be the perfect fit.

Your Development

Career progression at Consensus is all about potential. Our Career Ladder is designed to support every colleague in reaching their personal and professional best. It’s not just about promotions – it’s about recognising your growth, rewarding achievements, and giving you the tools you need to succeed through the Consensus Academy.

Whether you’re looking to move up the ladder, deepen your expertise in your current role, or explore alternative options – our career paths are flexible, structured, and fully supportive of you and what you want to achieve. Last year alone, 217 colleagues moved up the Career Ladder, thanks to a dedicated appraisal process. It’s all about ensuring that every person at Consensus has access to opportunities for progression and recognition for the great work they do.

In 2024, 87% of our colleagues confirmed they were offered training or development to further themselves professionally.

Our Commitment

As a Disability Confident Employer, Consensus is committed to removing barriers and creating an inclusive environment where everyone, regardless of disability, can contribute fully. This means that we actively recruit and support individuals with disabilities, ensuring they have equal opportunities to grow and thrive within the organisation. Whether through tailored adjustments or creating roles that fit individual needs, we go above and beyond to ensure that disability never holds anyone back.

Inclusivity also means ensuring that every colleague has the skills to provide exceptional care, considering the specific needs of those we support. That’s why we’ve fully implemented the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism across our teams. By training over 2,000 colleagues in eLearning and face-to-face sessions, we ensure that everyone, from support workers to central support colleagues, is fully equipped to understand and meet the needs of the people we support. This comprehensive training showcases our dedication to creating a compassionate, inclusive culture where everyone can feel confident to be themselves and feel supported every day.

In a confidential colleague survey 83% of people agreed “I can be myself here”.

Getting Involved

We know that the best ideas come from those closest to the action. That’s why we’ve embraced initiatives like The Matchbox, a platform that empowers colleagues to share their ideas, no matter their role. From big bang ideas to everyday improvements, our team’s input is not just welcomed – it’s crucial. And we’re really enjoying watching these ideas being brought to life.

Our commitment to The Fish Philosophy is another example of how we involve everyone in our success. By encouraging leaders and colleagues alike to “Choose Your Attitude,” “Be Present,” “Make Their Day,” and “Play,” we create a workplace that’s not only inclusive but also fun and fulfilling. This philosophy is at the heart of how we build strong relationships and support each other, making work a place of joy and purpose.

“When I look at what we accomplish I feel a sense of pride.” – 86% of Consensus colleagues.

Sound like your kind of place?

Whilst Consensus is a place to come to work, importantly it’s also a place to grow, belong, and make a difference. That’s why we’re proud to be a certified Great Place to Work, and one of the UK’s Best Workplaces 2024. This year, we’ve also made the lists for Best Workplaces for Wellbeing, Best Workplaces for Women, Best Workplaces for Development and Best Workplaces in Healthcare. So, whether you’re just starting your career or looking to take the next step, we’ll make sure you’re empowered to bring your whole self to work and thrive.
