We're a Best Workplace for Development™ UK 2024

Consensus named one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for Development™ 2024

Consensus is proud to announce that we have been named among the top 50 in the UK’s Best Workplaces for Development™.

New for this year, the UK’s Best Workplaces for Development List recognises companies making employee development a key part of company culture. These workplaces offer employees the chance to better themselves, to learn new skills, and to progress within the organisation. They understand that development is not one-size fits all, and they actively support every single employee to undertake their own tailored journey of growth. Because of this, their people are fuelled by a sense of purpose, feel valued by their employer, and give their best to the organisation.

Our inclusion on this exclusive list officially acknowledges our commitment to development, innovation and colleague growth. Over the past 12 months we have introduced numerous new learning and development programmes through the Consensus Academy, to solidify our commitment to colleague development. This includes the launch of our Leadership Academy, designed to empower leaders to unlock their full potential and become inspiring role models for their teams at every stage of their leadership journey. Our dedication to development has resulted in over 100 internal promotions last year, and we are really proud of our colleagues for engaging with learning and accessing development opportunities to make this happen.

One colleague shared in our anonymous survey: “Consensus are always wanting to promote from within. I can do any training course to help promote my career.”

To compile the UK’s Best Workplaces for Development List, Great Place to Work® reviewed our culture, benefits, approach to leadership and development, alongside anonymous responses from our colleagues. They then used these data insights to benchmark our company’s employee value proposition against the culture our colleagues actually experience. Only the businesses who achieve the highest scores after evaluation receive Best Workplaces™ status.

From our anonymous colleague feedback, we can see that overall our team highly commends our dedication to ongoing learning, development, and individual growth across our business.

One colleague referenced the importance of development in providing the best quality of life for those we support: “I like the continuous training and development opportunities and how we focus on quality of life giving us the tool to enrich the people we care for.”

Another said “The company provides ample opportunities for training that help staff members enhance their skills and stay updated with the latest advancements in caregiving practices.”

Anja Carter, People Director, said: “Making the UK’s Best Workplaces for Development List is a testament to our phenomenal L&OD team. They have not only launched a development academy that provides opportunities for our colleagues to grow, but that also allows us to support individuals with greater complexities, helping Consensus to be the leading provider of support for people with complex needs.”

Benedict Gautrey, Managing Director of Great Place To Work® UK, said: “Employee training and development isn’t just about teaching employees to do their jobs. It’s about showing employees they are valued and that there is a path of progression available. When employees don’t see opportunity, they don’t bring their best selves to work and productivity and retention will be adversely impacted. Congratulations to Consensus for being part of our 2024 UK’s Best Workplaces for Development List.”

We’re proud to be a Great Place to Work® and one of the UK’s Best Workplaces™  2024 and continue to strive to provide the very best experiences for our Consensus colleagues. If you’d like to be part of our great team, click here to view our current vacancies.
