Say “Hello!” to Amanda Farren, our Head of Marketing and Communications. Amanda leads the company’s brand, marketing, and internal communications functions, and helps bring to life who we are and what we do here at Consensus. Spending her days getting stuck into everything from website maintenance and social media, through to engaging colleagues and driving new ideas, she’s been dubbed by her peers as the ‘Queen of all things Colourful’, the ‘Master of Words’, and the ‘Consensus Creative’.
Working alongside a passionate and committed Marketing and Communications team, it’s a vast, varied and very fast paced department who are lucky enough to be able to support all teams, all services and even the people we support with the work they do each day. You’ll see some of the marketing team’s efforts on our social media channels, our website, articles, and designs, and there’s even more to feast your eyes on internally, with email communications, internal campaigns, and a fantastic new hub coming very soon. It’s thanks to Amanda and her amazing team that we were able to recently launch our new brand and website, which really helps to reflect the personality of Consensus.
With 17 years’ experience spanning multiple industries – from digital forensics, weddings, travel, and engineering – it’s the care sector where Amanda truly belongs. A people person who’s happiest when she’s bringing a smile to others’ faces, you’ll never see her more animated than when she’s visiting services. Amanda lives in Coventry with her four teenagers (ouch!), and she’s also studying for a Master’s in Management and Marketing.
An Interesting Fact: “I started my career running my own businesses. In 2009 I was an overall winner at an awards ceremony and won a £10K garden office. And in 2011 I was invited to 10 Downing Street to meet the Prime Minister in recognition of my contribution to Women’s Enterprise.”
A Unique Quirk: “I have a phobia of paintings. It’s bizarre. It’s terrifying. But it’s unique, and certainly makes for an interesting conversation opener!”
A Personal Goal: “I’d really love to do a TED talk one day. I do love delivering a good presentation, so if there’s anyone out there organising a TEDX event in 2024 – call me.”
But what’s her favourite thing about working at Consensus?
“There are a lot of great things about working at Consensus but the winner for me, without a shadow of doubt, is being able to spend time with the people we support. Not only do I get to have fun and build real connections with people in a way that you just can’t when sitting behind your desk – but the benefit to the work we do as a team is huge. To meet inspiring people, to hear the amazing achievements that are being celebrated, to embrace feedback and understand what we can be doing to better communicate with everyone around Consensus – I never come home from a service visit without a mind bursting with thoughts and ideas for what we can do.”
And what about her most memorable moment so far?
“Website launch day was a great moment – but it was probably topped a few weeks later on my first anniversary when I was serenaded at Consensus Voices forum by the amazing vocals of Jelvis and Louis who dedicated a Westlife song to me (my all-time favourite group!). They really did raise me up so I could stand on mountains.”
For any marketing, PR, or media enquiries – reach out to Amanda and the team, and they’ll be happy to help. Thanks for sharing, Amanda.
