One Waste Disposal Visit at a Time

With our ‘One Step at a Time’ sustainability efforts making a difference all over Consensus, a group of our fantastic Sustainability Ambassadors had the pleasure of visiting our electrical waste disposal & Strategic Lifecycle Services partner KOCycle – B Corp™ – to find out exactly what happens when we send away our old & broken IT equipment to be recycled!

With a mission to put social responsibility at the forefront of everything they do, KOCycle has been ensuring that an incredible 0% of out IT equipment ends up in landfill, and supporting us in working towards our sustainability goals. Gathering IT equipment from our services & our central support offices, everything from laptops to keyboards to wire cables is being recycled, with everyone coming together to recycle out IT waste responsibly.

Supported by Servium, everyone had a fun & insightful day touring around the facility and having in-depth demonstrations and discussions about the intricate recycling and disposal methods – who knew recycling could be so interesting? Learning about the different machines and the step-by-step recycling process, everyone left the factory with a greater appreciation for the impact that responsible lifecycle management can have on the planet.

And so far to-date, with the support of Servium and the manufacturing powers of KOCycle, we’ve…
  • Had 544 assets collected, recycled 322 items, reused 222 items, and sent 0% to landfill.
  • Saved an estimated 93,795 KG of CO2e from reaching the atmosphere
  • Planted 220 trees

Incredible statistics, showing the incredible impact responsible waste management has on our planet.

Following the visit, we’ve also been lucky enough to receive a generous £100 donation from our IT & recycling partner Servium for a charity of our choice, where we’ve donated the money to the Migraine Trust, supporting.
