Introducing our first 'Greatness Award' winners

This year we launched our internal ‘Making Moments Matter Awards’, recognising and celebrating our fantastic colleagues that go above and beyond to make Consensus a great place to live, and a great place to work. Split into 2 awards, our ‘Greatness Awards’ are rare and coveted – they acknowledge the exceptional acts of those who are at the heart of the greatest moments at Consensus.

Creating exceptional moments, our first incredible winners have demonstrated undeniable greatness and achieved something amazing. Truly going above and beyond to make positive change – so, without further ado, meet our first Greatness Award Winners…

Courtney & Kari – Winners of the North

Introducing our first winners in the North are the incredible Courtney and Kari – who really are the embodiment of creativity. They reached out to the Matchbox with an idea they’d been dreaming up for some time and the passion to make it happen. And you’ll already have seen the incredible outcome of their idea and may have not even realised it was them who did everything, from start to finish.

With a lot of hard work, dedication and some innovative thinking, they brought the whole of the Wales & West area together for a sports day full of fun, making friends and smiles, and really did go above and beyond to create a special day for the people we support.

And going above and beyond, they well-deservingly were amongst out first Greatness s Award winners. Their nomination read;

I am nominating these two people for this joint award, as they dreamed of  something and with a little support they made it happen. This was such a positive and inspiring event for all the people we support, there were smiles, and engagement from all services, and the event was absolutely amazing, and this was all down to their hopes and dreams of the event, their passion and dedication was amazing to ensure everyone no matter what their ability was able to join in and be part of the day, this is what every moment matters means and making positive memories, that is why these two should receive the greatness award.”

Earnest, Evelyn & Megan – Winners of the South

Winning for the South, these winners are a shining example of kindness, compassion and strength – who worked together during a very hard time after the loss of their colleague and dear friend, Nash, to offer support and comfort to their team and the people we support.

Unwavering kindness and commitment – congratulations (and a big thank you) to Earnest, Evelyn, and Megan on winning.

Evelyn has shown amazing strength and resilience, going above and beyond to support everyone around her. She did anything needed to keep things running whether it was ‘her job’ or not and was a rock for the whole team.

Ernest has truly gone above and beyond in making sure the people we support are supported during this time. In one difficult week, Ernest came into Beach Road on his day off to help the people he supports and again to attend the memorial, making sure everyone felt supported and was able to process their grief.

Megan has been a pillar or strength for the team over the past few weeks. Not only does she complete her duties and ensure the service is safe and running well, she takes pride in wanting to improve the home for the people who live there, transforming the conservatory, helping people decorate their bedrooms and so much more.

Georgina – Central Support Team

And finally, behind the scenes, working every day to support colleagues and the people who live in our services, you’ll find our central support teams – and our first central support Greatness Award winner, Georgina.

Her nomination read, “Georgina’s passion for sharing the amazing things people achieve and enjoy every day is evident. If something great lands in her inbox, she cannot wait to share it. She has real pride in what the people we support accomplish every day, and that shines through in the delivery of her work too.”

There are so many projects – big and small – that have been brought to life by Georgina behind the scenes, but you wouldn’t know because she doesn’t take the credit for it. Her joy comes from knowing that she’s made a difference.

From dreaming up the first Christmas Card Exchange that found people making new friends and even helping Betty leave her flat for the first time in 10 years all, to creating new easy read placemats to help people who struggle with eating – she does everything with the people we support in mind and takes joy in celebrating their achievements.

Sharing a small glimpse of our why these fantastic people won the Greatness Awards, we’ll soon be deep diving into each of our incredible winners, highlighting exactly why they are truly great people.

Well done to our great winners for being at the heart of some of the truly exceptional moments across Consensus.
