August Moments; dancing, singing, and summer parties

It’s our favourite time of the month… August Moments! Sharing all the good bits, exciting stories, and wholesome moments happening across Consensus over the past month. With the sunny weather & bank holiday weekend, there’s been lots of parties, BBQs, and time spent enjoying each other’s company.

Aldeburgh House

Why celebrate 1 birthday, when you can have 2! Bazza & Katherine enjoyed a combined day of fun celebrating their birthdays – from opening presents, to playing snooker, going to the cinema, and then finishing the day off on the bouncy castle at the party, both had a wonderful time. And of course, plenty of cake was consumed to finish off the day.

Polwell Lane

Donning their best hearts and heading down the rabbit hole on who can make the best heart shaped sandwiches, the team at Polwell Lane certainly had a great time throwing an Alice in Wonderland themed party. Magical blue drinks, a game of spot the rabbit, and even having a surprise visit from Alice herself, a fabulous day was had by all.

The Heathers

Embracing the summer weather, The Heathers planned a BBQ with friends, families, and other services which was a massive hit. With star guest singers Kian & Steve taking to the stage to belt out some notes, the atmosphere was buzzing all afternoon, enjoying spending time with one-another whilst enjoying the plenty of tasty food spilling off the BBQ.

Main Road

Getting their dancing shoes on and glamorous clothes at the ready, everyone at Main Road enjoyed a summer siesta making wonderful memories. With singer Paul covering all the genres of pop, country, rock, and disco, there was a song for everyone to boogie along to. And in between dancing the day away, was a pit stop for some delicious food from the BBQ. Dancing, laughing, and sharing hugs, Main Road certainly know how to throw a party to remember.

Smythe House

Smythe House are petitioning to be renamed to ‘Smythe Fest’ following their incredible summer bonanza! Decorating every square inch of the home in decorations (with a big thanks to SMO John for his incredible creative talents making the sign), the whole team got together for a day of summer fun, known as ‘Smythe Fest’. Dancing, BBQs, and even a few fancy dress costumes, there were beaming smiles everywhere as the group enjoyed every moment. A big thank you goes to Rebecca, Caroline, Angela, Tracy, Becky, Toni, Rachel, and everyone else for putting there all in to making the day so special for the people at Smythe House.

Heather Holmes

Baking pies from fruits in the garden, raising money for charity, and even getting dirty (and a bit smelly!) sorting the bins & recycling out, it’s been a busy month for everyone at Heather Holmes.

Having a think about sustainability, the team decided to have a clothes swap day, not only donating and selling any old clothes they no longer wore, but also raising funds for a local charity. Bringing there unwanted clothes in and even making some arts & crafts bits and cakes to sell at the stall, the team raised an incredible £294.39p for charity! The day was a massive success, and really got everyone thinking about sustainability and other events they can plan in the future too. And a shout-out has to go the best dressed mascot of the day, Sharon! Well done to everyone at Heather Holmes for their hard work.

STEPS

Celebrating a big birthday with all his friends and loved ones, Geoff had the party to remember as he turned 70! Despite his original venue cancelling him only a week before the big day and scrambling to find another venue that was accessible for him and all his friends, the team pulled off making Geoff’s birthday as special as can be. Arriving at his party, the venue was decorated from head to toe in balloons, and even included a cake with Geoff’s face on it, which he absolutely loved. Having professional photos taken, a DJ to play some dancing tunes, and the buffet of dreams, everyone make sure Geoff had a truly special day to remember. Happy 70th Birthday to Geoff!

The Beehive

Sharing the success of their ‘Appreciation Jar’ earlier this month, a place for colleagues to leave kind words & encouragement for one-another, their recent sharing of messages has seen a whopping 83 notes being passed out amongst the team. Boosting morale, feeling appreciated, the team at The Beehive are certainly embracing the ‘Make Someone’s Day’ element of the FISH Philosophy.

Kingston House

And it wouldn’t be a ‘Moments’ article without sharing all the delicious baked goodies coming from our star bakers at Kingston House. Gluten free short bread biscuits, blonde cornflake cookies, and some other delicious treats, everyone loves getting involved in the weekly baking activities and learning new skills. The group also enjoyed another weekly activity of exercise sessions with Ben, keeping fit and getting moving.

There was also a special birthday at Kingston House, as Ayse celebrated her 40th birthday with Dawn & Susan at her family’s home! With some wonderful presents and an absolutely delicious cake (highly praised by our star bakers!), Ayse had a lovely birthday celebrating with family & friends.

And as summer comes to a close, it was time for Kingston House to throw one final summer garden party, topped off with their wonderful concoctions from the kitchen.
