Proud to be a Disability Confident Employer

People are at the heart of everything we do, and we strive to create a workplace that isn’t just equal, but equitable too. We believe everyone deserves an opportunity to shine and that given the right support they can truly flourish in their careers, and we’re delighted to share that we are now officially a Disability Confident Employer.

In the UK, 17.5% of adults have a physical or mental disability – almost a fifth of the entire population – and yet many jobs are inaccessible due to a lack of understanding and accommodations. But here at Consensus, it’s our mission to make sure that’s never the case and everyone is welcomed and fully supported.

We employ people with disabilities in all areas of business, including some of the people who live in our services. From our first interaction with candidates, we make sure there’s support in place so you can get to your interview, and start your new job the right way with full training, health assessments and any equipment needed. All of our managers are trained to be able to find the right accommodation for each person; whether that’s flexibility, a different way of communicating, specialist software or just giving more time to complete a task.

Our CEO Paula said, ‘ I am delighted that Consensus has been recognised as a Disability Confident organisation, reflecting the value we place on every colleague and the contribution that everyone can make in so many different ways to the lives of the people we support.

The Disability Confident Scheme is creating a movement of change, encouraging employers to think differently about disability and take action to improve how they recruit, retain and develop disabled people. If you want to join our wonderful team, have a look at our vacancies below:
