Who We Are
Our Commitment
Each year, we spend 2 days with leaders, department heads, and managers from across the country to reflect on our incredible achievements from the past year, and looking forward to the year ahead. This year, our Consensus Leadership Conference was centred around resilience – resilient teams, resilient services, and a resilient Consensus, as we continue to grow and support even more people with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs to flourish in accommodation of which we are proud.
Learning, reflecting, celebrating; 150 people came together with one shared goal, of making every moment matter for the people they support, driven by our values of Kindness, Commitment, and Creativity, which were embodied in abundance.
Reflecting on the last year
We’ve spent 365 days smiling, laughing, sharing incredible achievements, and with over 2000 colleagues, we’re building a culture where people feel proud, supported, and excited to be a part of something. Reflecting on the monumental achievements thanks to our teams commitments, our highlights included;
And so many more inspirational moments, that make our colleagues proud to work for #TeamConsensus.
Learning & Development
Being a UK’s Best Workplace for Development, the conference is centred around moments of learning to embed new processes, improved ways of working, and a culture of continuous improvement which is delivered through our workshops. Designed to empower us to grow, this year we had four inspirational workshops, each centred around our theme of resilience:
Stronger Me – Focuses on self-awareness and personal growth, helping individuals understand themselves better and become the best version of who they are.
Resilient Teams – Explores how to build strong, adaptable teams through engaging and practical approaches that promote collaboration, positivity, and resilience.
Right Support. Best Outcomes. – Examines how to deliver high-quality support across Consensus, encouraging best practice and ensuring individuals receive the right care in every situation.
Empowering Meaningful Lives – Looks at how we can support individuals to live fulfilling, meaningful lives by promoting independence, choice, and person-centred approaches.
Celebrating & Appreciating One Another
Learning and development may be front of mind, but celebration plays an equally important role. Recognising and championing our colleagues’ achievements is something we truly value. We’ll be revealing the winners of this year’s Consensus Awards soon, but the day was also full of moments where attendees could celebrate each other’s successes and ideas, including:
Resilience Team Building
Day two brought the energy, as colleagues were split into teams and challenged with a chest of over 100 tasks. From creative problem-solving to quick-fire challenges, teams had to work together to decide which activities to take on, all while earning points and making the most of each other’s strengths. It was fast-paced, completely chaotic, and a true test of collaboration at it’s finest!
The final challenge brought everyone back together. Using materials from earlier tasks, teams attempted to combine their individual paper towers into one unified structure. What followed was a brilliant moment of trial and error, with towers collapsing almost as quickly as they were built.
Just when it seemed like it might not stand, Jason stepped in to save the day and save the almost destroyed tower. And as it finally stood tall, the room was erupting in cheers! A moment that perfectly captured the spirit of Consensus. Kindness, Commitment and Creativity were on full display, and the power of coming together as one team was clear for all to see.
Hearing from the People we Support
Everything we do starts with people. That’s why looking ahead means making space for the voices of the people we support and learning directly from their experiences.
Ali, Kieran and Kerry joined us on stage to share what life at Consensus means to them, bringing our values of Kindness, Creativity and Commitment to life in a powerful and personal way. Their reflections on how we can continue to grow and better support people to live their best lives were both inspiring and invaluable. Thank you for being part of such an important conversation.
