Our May Sustainability Champions; Team Heather Holmes

This month we don’t just have a single champion – but a whole team of champions!

The Heather Holmes team have blown us away with their passion for all things green – and they all deserve some recognition for their hard work and enthusiasm for making their service more sustainable, one step at a time.

So a huge thank you and congratulations to:

  • ‘Queen of Laundry’ Sharon, who made posters for the washing machines to encourage hanging up washing and reducing tumble dryer use.

  • ‘Dinner lady’ Cheryle who always makes sure everything down to teabags are composted, and makes treats like Bread and Butter pudding to avoid food waste.

  • Green thumbed Jude, who loves the garden – introducing beehives, compost areas, a potting shed and finding green alternatives like egg shells for pest repellent.

  • Upcycling genius Kim, who can make decorations and gifts of things that might have been thrown away like cans, old jars and plastic bottles.

  • Recycling superstar Lisa who makes sure we recycle as much as we can, including saving toilet rolls and old card for her gerbils or peoples pets.

  • Organising boss Naomi who makes sure all the household waste is sorted, sent to the right place and that nothing is thrown away that could be used or recycled.

  • And you’ve met the lovely Heather who transforms old crisp packets into blankets to donate to local homeless charities.

Thank you for showing us that a whole team working together can make a truly huge difference – one step at a time.
