Making positive change with our Menopause Policy

Half of the world will experience menopause at some point in their lifetime, and at Consensus we’re on a mission to make sure everyone feels comfortable and able to talk about their experiences, creating an environment where people feel confidence in asking for help when they need it.

But it’s not just offering support, it’s about making real positive change. Listening to colleague feedback and wanting to ensure everyone feels supported to flourish in their working environment – which is why we’ve introduced a new Menopause Policy.

Following our Menopause Meet-ups, our colleagues said they’d feel more comfortable talking about menopause and asking for support if they had an official policy so they knew exactly what they could expect and how to ask for help. Creating a positive and open environment between Consensus and someone affected by the menopause, the policy includes adjustments that offer support and flexibility;

  • Enabling breaks when needed
  • Providing a quiet area where someone is able to rest and help manage their symptoms
  • Being flexible, where possible, with working hours and shift patterns
  • Other practical support such as desk fans and ventilation

Alongside the introduction of our Menopause Policy, we’ve also been running our Menopause Meet-ups – a chance for colleagues to come together whether they’re going through the menopause right now or for those wanting to educate themselves further. Spending time talking about symptoms, offering advice, and playing a game or two, these sessions are here to support all our colleagues.
