Experiencing all life has to offer at Burnham House

Following a glowing CQC Inspection back in February, the good times haven’t stopped flowing at Burnham House – magical moments, fantastic memories, and laughter filling the rooms every single day. Creating a supportive environment where every success is celebrated, life at Burnham House is centered around supporting people to flourish and dream big.

Filling their days with activities that are not only fun, but support the wonderful people living at Burnham House to develop new skills, here’s a small glimpse at what’s been happening at Burnham House recently;

Weekly Cooking Sessions

Whether it’s peeling potatoes to make delicious chips or whipping up eggs to create yummy cakes, everyone’s been loving getting involved with the weekly baking sessions and developing their cooking skills. Choosing a new recipe that catches their fancy every week, each cooking session is focused around learning new skills and chatting about what a healthy diet consists of, whilst having some fun of course.

Outings to a Disability Festival

Heading out to the Wanstead Disability Festival earlier in July, it was smiles and laughter all round as everyone had fun experiencing the music, dancing, comedy, and art together. With even the weather cooperating with blue skies and sunshine, discussions are already happening about eagerly returning next year for more memories and fun.

Afrobeats Dance Sessions

Attending a weekly Afrobeats session full of energy and expression, it’s more than just moving to the rhythm that the people at Burnham House have been enjoying. With lots of neighbouring services attending, the weekly sessions have become a highlight of the week for everyone as new friendships have blossomed – building connections through the universal language of dance.

Zumba Sessions

And supporting people to keep fit and healthy, Burnham House have also squeezed in time for some weekly Zumba sessions – busting some moves to help benefit not only the physical wellbeing of everyone, but the mental wellbeing too.

Learning life skills, making wonderful memories, developing blossoming friendships, exploring cultural experiences together, and ensuring people flourish – people truly are at the heart of Burnham House.

“People were at the heart of what the service did.” (CQC Inspection, 2024)
