Say Hello to Rees Warren, our Purchase Ledger Manager. Rees joined Consensus as a Treasury and Credit Control Administrator almost seven years ago after working in the finance team of a local hospital and his keen eye for detail and natural flair for supplier relationships led him to his new role. He’s responsible for making sure we pay our invoices, getting all payments authorised and accurate and ensuring our services can buy the things they need to succeed.
“People don’t tend to think of working in finance as a very social role and imagine it as being stuck staring at spreadsheets and accounts all day, every day – but sometimes you need a lot of people skills to do well. I have to build good relationships with our suppliers and clients to make sure things run smoothly, and on an average month I answer over 2000 emails and 400 calls!”
“After I left school, I never thought I’d study ever again. But since working at Consensus, I achieved both my Level 2 and part Level 3 AAT – the most recognised and respected accounting qualification. When I was younger, I had a speech impairment that made learning feel difficult, but I felt confident and am so happy I tried again.”
“In my spare time I love volleyball – I play and coach semi-professional players too. Back in 2012, I was a Line Judge for the Olympics Indoor Volleyball. The most amazing game I got to be a part of was the Bronze medal match between Japan and South Korea.
“It’s seeing how every person, even one where you’re in an office-based role like Finance, plays a part in something bigger. Every single job you do helps our overall goal of giving the people we support the best lives and the support they need. It’s amazing being able to follow a career path I enjoy but knowing I’m doing it somewhere that makes a difference to people.”
