Consensus named one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for Development™ 2025
Consensus is proud to announce that we have been named 18th in the UK’s Best Workplaces for Development™, climbing 15 spots from last year.
The UK’s Best Workplaces for Development List recognises companies making employee development a key part of company culture. These workplaces offer employees the chance to better themselves, to learn new skills, and to progress within the organisation. They understand that development is not one-size fits all, and they actively support every single employee to undertake their own tailored journey of growth. Because of this, their people are fuelled by a sense of purpose, feel valued by their employer, and give their best to the organisation.
Our inclusion on this exclusive list officially acknowledges our commitment to development, innovation and employee growth. Over the past year, we have continued to introduce numerous new courses and opportunities to solidify our commitment to employee development including our Inspire & Elevate programmes – supporting Deputy Managers to learn new skills and transition into Service Manager roles, alongside supporting Team Leaders to take the step-up to a Deputy Manager role. Alongside our internal development programmes, we also support our colleagues to complete apprenticeships, like Nadine, who through her apprenticeship has progressed from Team Leader at Gretton House, to recently being promoted to the Deputy Manager at De Parys.
We also launched our new learning platform ‘My Learning Cloud’ in September 2024, where colleagues have access to over 100+ eModules and workshops, as well as accessibility for individuals with additional learning needs such as dyslexia, hearing impairments, visual impairments and supports individuals whose native language is not English. We have also offered professional and personal coaching to our leaders across the business, and to-date have successfully supported 13 colleagues.
To compile the UK’s Best Workplaces for Development List, Great Place to Work® reviewed our culture, benefits, approach to leadership and development, alongside anonymous responses from our employees. They then used these data insights to benchmark our company’s employee value proposition against the culture our employees actual experience. Only the businesses who achieve the highest scores after evaluation receive Best Workplaces™ status.
89% of colleagues agree ‘I am offered training or development to further myself professionally.’
Colleague feedback on career progression at Consensus has included: “I am been supported to flourish in my career. It is a good thing that Consensus decided to identify and nurture potential leaders from within its ranks to maintain its high standards of care and operational efficiency.”
Another said “There are not many companies that would offer you this amount of training and guidance, ensuring we are all given the opportunity and support to progress if we’d like to!””
Benedict Gautrey, Managing Director of Great Place To Work® UK shared “Training and development aren’t just about helping employees perform their day-to-day tasks – it’s about demonstrating that people are valued and that there’s a clear path for growth. When employees can’t see opportunities ahead, they’re less likely to be fully engaged, which can harm both productivity and retention. Development is all about looking forward – it shows a commitment to an employee’s long-term potential. It helps individuals feel appreciated and plays a vital role in shaping a strong company culture.”
We’re so proud of this achievement and look forward to using the valuable insights Great Place To Work has provided us with to build on our culture and employee satisfaction. If you would like to be part of our GREAT team, check out our latest vacancies here.
