Where every moment matters, our Learning & Organisational Development team have been expanding the learning, training, and development opportunities across Consensus. Growing a variety of courses to help both our services and central support colleagues to develop their skills, knowledge, and understanding of Autism, Learning Disabilities, Complex Needs, and Prader-Willi Syndrome – personal and professional development is weaved into everything we do.
Being a leading provider in Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) care, the L&OD Team have been developing the PWS Academy; an interactive and engaging digital academy hearing from those who’s voice matters most, those living with PWS. Sharing their stories and experiences, they’re helping to educate colleagues on the unique challenges they face on a daily basis.
Launched in April 2024, the digitalisation of the PWS Academy allows even more colleagues to access PWS training. Easily accessible, easy to fit in around different schedules , and easy to understand and follow, the Consensus Academy is focused on making training accessible for all.
Split into 4 important areas, our PWS Academy includes;
- What is PWS? – learning about what PWS is and how it affects people.
- PWS & ME – hearing real life stories from the people we support about their experiences.
- PWS Support – finding out ways to support someone with PWS.
- PWS Resources – providing information about PWS supporting documents.
Helping to better support and understand those with PWS, our PWS academy has been rated 4.5/5 for how well our colleagues say the training prepared them for supporting someone with PWS. And recently being recognised as a UK’s Best Workplace for Development™, we’re proud to see our new development opportunities at Consensus being highly rated and making a positive difference to the support we deliver.
