The Inspire Academy: Supporting Team Leaders to Flourish

Being recognised as one of the Best Workplaces for Development 2024, we’re always striving to create development courses, career paths, and ensuring our colleagues have the support to flourish in their personal and professional development at Consensus.

Launching earlier this year, we introduced the ‘Inspire Academy’ – a programme centred around inspirational Team Leaders looking to develop on their already impressive skills. Learning new ways of working, building confidence, and helping them prepare for the stepping stone up to a Deputy Manager role, the course is focused on enhancing careers.

Broken down into 6 modules, the Inspire Academy covers;

  • Stepping Up
  • Assertiveness & Confidence
  • Communication & Soothing Challenging Conversations
  • Expectations of Regulatory Bodies and Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis
  • Intro to Coaching & Mentoring
  • Influencing & Motivation
  • Achievement & Celebration

Supporting our Team Leaders to learn both people skills and business skills to flourish in their careers.

Hitting the half-way mark in the course, we caught up with some of the talented Team Leaders on the Inspire Academy to find out what skills they’re gaining and how they’re finding it useful in their roles;

Zoe

“I started at Consensus 2 and a half years ago as a Support Worker, and have since worked my way up into the Deputy Manager position at Aldeburgh House. Joining the Inspire Academy I was excited for the chance to learn and develop my knowledge, helping me prepare my mindset for my new role as a deputy. My trainer Jo has been supportive at all trainings to expand my knowledge.”

Abdulrahman

“Starting off as a Support Worker almost 2 and a half years ago, I feel honoured and valued as a Team Leader with the potential to take on a higher role from Natalie my Service Manager, and Michelle my Area Director. It’s been a great opportunity to improve both my performance and morale, with the skills being transferable for future higher roles. It’s great that Consensus identify and nurture potential leaders to maintain high standards of care, and I believe that the Inspire Academy will contribute to a reduction in turnover rates. I see a clear pathway for my career advancement here.”

Nadine

“Having been at Consensus for nearly 9 years, I started as a Support Worker and was honoured to be recommended for the Inspire Academy by my management team. I have so far learned new skills that I have been able to use in my current role, and feel that Consensus are helping me blossom in my career.”

Lisa

“I joined Consensus 5 years ago as a Support Worker, and feel joining the Inspire Academy has been a good step forward to find out more about the role. I have learned some great skills so far and began to establish a connection with colleagues that I wouldn’t usually work with, which I feel is of great importance when we all move forward into a Deputy role. Jo makes it fun and realistic in her training, and her energy and passion shine through – she really inspires me.”
