The Annual Health Workshop at Ipswich Central Supported Living

Ensuring the people we support have the opportunity to learn about the importance of annual health checks and how these play a vital role in maintaining their wellbeing, Ipswich Central Supported Living invited Suffolk Ace Anglia to teach their annual health check workshop. Providing a safe and interactive environment to familiarise them with medical equipment and procedures, the workshop supports people in making the experience less intimidating for future appointments.

One of the key takeaways from the session was empowering people to understand their rights, such as requesting reasonable adjustments to suit their needs. These could include wheelchair accessibility, choosing a preferred contact method, or requesting a male or female doctor to make them feel more comfortable during their appointments.

The hands-on activities added an element of fun to the day, as participants explored how medical tools like stethoscopes, blood pressure machine works and even tried “playing doctor” by checking on each other. This engaging and informative session not only boosted their confidence but also created a sense of excitement about taking charge of their health.
