Sustainability at Heather Holmes... One Crisp Packet at a Time

Sustainability comes in many different shapes and forms. For some it’s seen as recycling waste correctly, for others it’s planting wild flowers for the bees – but for the team at Heather Holmes, it’s collecting crisp packets.

It takes 80 years for a crisp packet to decompose, and with some avid crisp lovers at Heather Holmes, support worker Heather spotted an idea that could not only help turn crisp packets into something new, but benefit people that are homeless too.

Discovering the Iron Man Survival Charity, Heather realised that all these packets of crisps they were getting through could be washed and collected to donate to the charity – where they specialise in turning crisp packets into survival blankets, using 150 packets for 1 blanket. Setting up a collection station at Heather Holmes, everyone has been eagerly chomping through crisps to get the box full, ready to donate and help the lives of those who are homeless.

An incredible step towards a sustainable future, all whilst making a difference to people’s lives. Thank you to Heather for bringing this idea to life within Heather Holmes, and the team for getting involved.

One crisp packet at a time, Heather Holmes are making every moment matter.
