Support Built Around the Person

Support at Humber Mews is delivered using Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and Active Support approaches, ensuring that people are empowered to live meaningful lives, develop skills and achieve greater independence.  We understand that behaviour is a form of communication and our highly trained teams work alongside individuals, families and professionals to understand what matters to each person, identify strengths and reduce barriers to success.

Through person-centred planning we support people to:

  • Increase independence and daily living skills
  • Develop communication and self-advocacy
  • Build confidence within their local community
  • Maintain meaningful relationships
  • Improve health and wellbeing outcomes
  • Access education, volunteering and employment opportunities where appropriate
  • Achieve goals that are important to them

Our focus is always on enabling people to do as much as possible for themselves, rather than doing things for them.

At Humber Mews we are committed to delivering support that promotes dignity, choice, control and human rights.  Using PBS principles, proactive support planning and skilled staff teams, we work to minimise restrictions and reduce reliance on restrictive practices wherever possible. Support is regularly reviewed to ensure people have maximum freedom, choice and control over their lives while remaining safe and well supported.

Our aim is to create environments where people can flourish, develop greater independence and live active, visible and valued lives within their communities.
