Paintbrushes at the ready: It's time for Art & Possibilities Week!

We’re kicking off Day of Arts in Care Homes with a very special Consensus twist – it’s time for Art & Possibilities week.

We have some truly amazing artists living and working across the country in Consensus services; from painters and musicians, to DIY masters and poets. And they all have one thing in common (aside from extraordinary talent) – and that’s agreeing that unleashing your inner artist and getting creative can provide so many benefits to our wellbeing, mood and mental health. So working together with some of our amazing resident artists, we designed a whole week to encourage our people to try out new mediums of art, find new ways to express themselves and of course have a lot of fun. From baking, drawing, crafting and upcycling – every day brings a new theme and plenty of new inspiration.

So while we’re waiting to see how inspiration strikes this week, we’d love to share some of the amazing results from our last Art & Possibilities Week, including:

Redan Streets unique take on the week, creating stations dotted throughout the garden with different themes and activities so everyone could try out something new
Kingston Houses’ accessible arts – adapting their jewellery making sessions to have a range of options from small beads to alternatives like pasta shapes so anyone could join in regardless of their mobility
A poetry masterclass from Ty Cwtch as they worked together to write a beautiful poem about their home
Our art ambassador for central support teams rocking face paint to lead the fun
A Michelin-star worthy cookoff at steps with new recipes (and no leftovers)

And lots of people with newfound hobbies and a love for creative expression!
