Who We Are
Our Commitment
At Consensus, the health & wellbeing of our colleagues is so important to us – creating a space where colleagues can be their authentic selves, being supported to flourish & grow in a safe environment. In recognition of World Mental Health Day, we wanted to take a moment to highlight the amazing wellbeing initiatives across Consensus, including our Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders).
Our MHFAiders play a vital role in giving colleagues a safe and confidential space to talk, providing support and advice to those who may be struggling with their Mental Health. Ran by Mental Health England, we now have 41 amazing MHFAiders who have completed their training and are providing support throughout our homes and Central Support office to their colleagues.
The dedication and desire to helping others is extremely admirable, and every single person is appreciated. Whether colleagues are looking for advice or needing to talk to someone about their struggles; both personal and work based, our Mental Health First Aiders are here to support all our colleagues and contribute towards personal wellbeing being at the forefront of life at Consensus.
Since starting the Mental Health England First Aiders iniataive at Consensus, we’ve had lots of positive feedback from our MHFAiders;
‘The course was very interesting and insightful into mental health.’
‘It should be mandatory to have a MHFAiders in all working sectors.’
‘I wish I’d done the course years ago, it was really good content and thoroughly covered everything in great detail.’
Sophie, our HR & Wellbeing Coordinator and MHFAider also shared her thoughts on why it’s so important we have MHFAiders at Consensus;
‘Mental health is extremely important as it affects everyone at some point in their lives but differently. I became a MHFAider as I have experienced mental health struggles previously and wanted to ensure people have access to support they need.’
Lesley, our Unity Community Manager and MHFAider expressed her thoughts as well;
Mental health is such an important topic in the current times and sometimes does not get enough support or recognition. It is important for me as a service manager to be able to recognise any decline in my staff team or supported individuals’ mental wellbeing to be able to act quickly and effectively and offer any support or signpost to relevant professionals if needed.
In addition to our wonderful MHFAiders, we are also supporting our colleagues physical & mental wellbeing with our Employee Assistance Programme. Providing support and 24/7 access to a virtual GP service – allowing colleagues to access support and health care in their own time, all the time.
Working together, coming together – we’re always working on Wellbeing at Consensus to provide a safe space for our colleagues to flourish & grow.
