Introducing our Sustainability E-Learning across Consensus

What pops into your head when you hear the word ‘Sustainability’? Is it recycling? Is it gardening? Is it eco friendly cars? Because at Consensus, we’re educating both our colleagues and the people we support that sustainability can be weaved into everything we do.

It’s not just recycling… it’s our social impact, our environmental impact, and our strength of governance. It’s about protecting the earth’s future by making better decisions in the present, as the better we look after our planet now, the better chance the future has.

And to ensure that sustainability is not just a “buzz word” at Consensus, we’ve introduced mandatory sustainability e-learning training for all our colleagues to debunk those myths, and really educate everyone on what sustainability means in health care.

From introducing our ‘One Step at a Time’ campaign, where colleagues make big and small commitments towards a sustainable future, to improving the experience of every colleague by improving our Great place to Work credentials; social, economic, physical, and mental aspects all intertwine into sustainability. Which includes the sustainability of our workforce – ensuring we create an environment where colleagues want to belong and remain, with things like our Mental Health First Aiders programme and Disability Confident accreditation ensuring people feel supported.

It even includes things such as our digital footprint, and how by recycling IT equipment we can reduce our carbon footprint, alongside digitalising our support plans so more time can be spent supporting people to flourish.

Our training aims to empower better decisions being made in the present, protect the future for all, and reduce unnecessary wastage. Launching recently, we’ve already seen an incredible 745 people complete the e-training, including our CEO, Heads of Departments, and Support workers – rating the course 4.63/5, which we think is simply fantastic.

Whether it’s turning off a light switch, launching our Menopause Meet-ups to support those going through the menopause, or introducing our cycle-to-work scheme.. the more sustainable we are, the longer we can provide great quality care to the people we support, and ensure every moment matters.
