A Perfect Summer Birthday for Philip

This summer, we had the joy of celebrating Philip’s birthday. The sun was shining brightly, and the garden was beautifully decorated, setting the scene for a truly special day. There were games and crafts and a beautiful spread put on by the team (recipes, please!).

Following a beautiful service at Church to start his birthday, the celebrations continued back home with a visit from lots of Philip’s family – with superstar nephew Joshua, of course. Philip was overjoyed as he unwrapped his gifts, carefully sorting them into his “favourite pile” and “the rest,” which brought a smile to everyone’s face. There were plenty of laughs and moments of pure joy as together they enjoyed his birthday picnic in the garden with family, friends, and the team at Ophir Rd.

Oh and not Philip’s favourite activity… Dancing!!! Whilst his mum and his brother Richard tried to out dance him, they stood no chance. Because Philip is, quite frankly, the best dancer in the whole wide world (he needs a mosh pit, really).

Later, the family went for a lovely walk along the cliff top by the seaside, then down the promenade, and back up the hill to the minibus. Philip loves seeing his nephew, and enjoys taking responsibility for pushing him in his wheelchair, and it was clear how much he loved being out in the fresh air with his family.

After the walk, Philip was ready for a cup of tea and began talking excitedly about swimming (which Mum knew was her cue to leave so he could head off for his afternoon swim), a perfect end to a wonderful day full of love, laughter, and special moments.

Philip’s mum, Diana, expressed her gratitude: “I cannot thank you all enough for making Philip’s birthday so special. It was extra special to have both my boys there and my grandson. Philip was just so happy. I feel so blessed.”

Thank you Philip, Family & the Ophir Rd Team for sharing the joy of Philip’s day.
